Based at Foodeast Haumako, Sustainable is Attainable brings food and beverage producers together to find practical solutions to shared sustainability challenges in ways that make economic sense.
The programme’s three working groups, Petfood & Meat, Fruit & Vege Processors, and Growers & Packhouses, are tackling waste, energy and circular economy opportunities specific to their sectors. By pooling ideas and trialling collaborative projects, they are showing that sustainability can be both achievable and commercially valuable.
Foodeast Haumako is working with industry and research partners to grow New Zealand’s novel fermentation capability.
The project focuses on building a regional and national network, sharing knowledge to address capability gaps and identify opportunities that could underpin the future development of a food-safe novel fermentation cluster.
