Fermentation is fast becoming one of the most powerful technologies shaping the future of food; not in artisan kitchens, but in high-tech labs, bioreactors and scalable production systems.
On Thursday 11 September, Foodeast Haumako is hosting the Fermentation for Future Food Summit in Hawke’s Bay, bringing together innovators, researchers, investors, and manufacturers from across Aotearoa to explore the science and commercial potential of novel fermentation.
This is fermentation as platform technology. We’re talking about microbes being used as microscopic factories to produce sustainable proteins, enzymes, nutrients and ingredients at scale. It’s a serious growth area with global relevance, and New Zealand has the capability to lead.
Foodeast Haumako Chief Executive, Michael Bassett Foss
The summit will focus on:
- Investment and scale-up opportunities in biomass and precision fermentation
- New Zealand’s position in a growing global market
- Biotech-enabled food innovation and advanced manufacturing
- Collaboration across research, enterprise and government
Designed to spark partnerships and position the region as a hub for biotech food innovation, the event is expected to attract food and beverage manufacturers, start-ups, R&D leaders, funders, and government agencies
“Hawke’s Bay has a deep food production base and a growing innovation network; this summit is about connecting that strength with science and strategy,” says Mr Bassett-Foss.
The summit is part of the Foodeast Haumako mission to accelerate value-added food innovation and production. To register visit: www.foodeast.co.nz/fermentation-for-future-food-summit
