Construction
Construction of the facility is due be completed in March 2024.

Funding and management
The planning and construction phases of foodeast-haumako are funded by The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment MBIE), Hawke’s Bay Regional Investment Company, Hastings District Council, and Progressive Meats. It is owned by a Council Controlled Trading Organisation (CCTO).

It will be operated as a commercial enterprise, focused on providing services to businesses to enable them to develop and commercialise high-value products in the food, beverage and agri-tech sectors.
